Our Mission:
The Danbury Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (DAWS) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond. Founded in 1974, DAWS provides shelter and care to animals in need, offers adoption counseling to place our animals in loving, forever homes, promotes responsible pet guardianship and the humane treatment of animals, and works toward ending animal overpopulation through education, spay/neuter, and trap, neuter and return programs.

*Please note that there are no dog adoption hours on Fridays except by prior appointment. |

From Route 84 East or West:

Take exit 5
- Make
a right at the traffic light onto Main Street
- Follow the directions below from Downtown Danbury
From Dowtown Danbury:

Follow Main Street until you get to the end (the War Memorial and CVS will be directly ahead of you)
- Make
a left at the traffic light onto South Street.
- Follow
the signs for Route 53 - Bethel, bearing left at the second light
- Stay
on Route 53 and follow for approximately 2 miles until you reach the
traffic light with the Sycamore Diner ahead
- Go
straight through the traffic light (this is Grassy Plain Street) and
follow for approximately 1 1/2 miles
- DAWS will be on your right, with a white dog statue and a sign that says "Danbury Animal Welfare" out front.
