PET ADOPTIONS DAWS maintains our own animal shelter in Bethel, Connecticut for the pets in our care. We typically have 50-80 cats and kittens available for adoption at our shelter, and up to 40 dogs. Animals can be viewed and adopted at the Bethel shelter at our open house every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm, and from 6pm-8pm on all weeknights for cats, and from 6pm-8pm Mon-Thurs for dogs. For more information about visiting animals at the Bethel shelter, call 744-DAWS (3297). We also, whenever possible, try to coordinate home-to-home adoptions for people who are unable to care for their pets. We maintain lists of people who are looking for homes for their pets, and will attempt to match those animals with prospective adopters when appropriate.
SUBSIDIZED SPAY-NEUTER ASSISTANCE DAWS maintains a program with local veterinarians whereby needy pet owners can get a discounted rate on the sterilization of their dogs and cats. Contact DAWS at 744-DAWS (3297) for more information about this program.
ANIMAL RESCUE SERVICES DAWS volunteers rescue hundreds of companion animals every year from abandonment and abusive situations. For information about the emergency rescue services we provide to the animals of our community, contact us at 744-DAWS (3297). Have you lost a pet? Send us an email at daws@daws.org with information such as sex, detailed description, location lost, contact information, and a picture whenever possible. Please see our Lost page for tips on searcing for your pet and other local resources to contact. Coming soon - a listing of local lost and found pets.
