New Shelter Director: Katie Mothersele

Please join us in welcoming Katie Mothersele, the new Shelter Director for DAWS. As Shelter Director, Katie’s responsibilities will include oversight of strategic and daily operations for our foster program, intake of animals, volunteer care, shelter cleanliness, and animal adoptions and placement. The Shelter Director also ensures operating efficiency and logistics of proper staffing, volunteer management, and inventory controls to effectively manage resources and the capacity-to-care ratio.

Katie comes to us with more than 12 years of experience. She has expertise in animal behavior, team management, animal facility care as well as veterinary clinic management. Her most recent focus has been executing more effective company procedures, which resulted in efficiency and cost savings. Danielle Galanaugh, Vice-President of the Board of Directors shares, “We are incredibly excited to welcome Katie to DAWS’ leadership team and have already seen Katie make major strides for DAWS in a positive direction. It’s clear that she has already become a trusted partner to so many of us – volunteers, staff, BODs and of course our DAWS’ beloved animals.  We are extremely  proud of the work she has done so far and wish her continued success in her new role at DAWS.”

Katie and her bloodhound, “Who,” have participated in search and rescue efforts. She has also volunteered her time fostering and performing animal behavior evaluations for several rescues in the northeast. Katie shares, “I am very excited to be joining this wonderful organization during such an important time for DAWS. I look forward to being part of the DAWS community and helping to save the lives of many more animals.”
