Volunteer Spotlight: Ellen Cook
Ellen Cook has been involved with Danbury Animal Welfare Society for the last three years. After moving to Connecticut and retiring from various teaching and management positions, she knew she wanted to do something to help animals. Ellen presently works as a cat socializer and adoption counselor, as well as a cattery staff member. “I really enjoy working with the cats and kittens, as well as adopters looking for that special new family member.” As of recently, she has become more involved with our community outreach programs and events around town.
Ellen has always been an animal lover and her passion shows here at DAWS. She says, “I had my first pets when I was about seven years old. I raised guppies and cared for two little green turtles and my first rescue cat, Samantha. Cats have always been a part of my family right up to the present.” Shortly after she began volunteering, Ellen adopted two DAWS rescue cats, Nala and Cookie.
Operations Manager, Gina Amenta says, “Ellen is an invaluable member of our cattery and volunteer staff. Her endless devotion to our animals is truly inspiring!” Thank you Ellen for all that you do at DAWS!
