This adorable boy is Mocha Latte. He is a 1-year-old shepherd mix and weighs 40 lb. Mocha found himself on a busy highway in Georgia and was rescued by our shelter partner there. He is now at a foster home in CT and ready to find his forever home. His foster says "Mocha Latte is a sweet, gentle boy. When he first arrived at our home, he was timid and scared, spending the first few days startling at loud noises and trying to hide under the table, in a closet or behind the vacuum. His foster home has 2 parents, 3 kids, another dog, 3 cats and 3 foster kittens so he had no choice but to get used to noise, and after a few days of coaxing him out for "snuggle practice" he now freely and comfortably roams the house. He still startles at loud noises, but is easily calmed with a hug. Mocha Latte is great with kids, dogs and kittens and tolerates cats (he tried to chase one cat here once, was swatted on the nose and now just ignores her, but he is endlessly entertained by the kittens who love to play with his tail). He walks nicely on a leash both with and without another dog and has excellent table manners. He is also housetrained. Mocha Latte is very soft and VERY snuggly. He will do well with a loving family who is willing to be patient in coaxing him out of his shell." Mocha Latte is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and healthy. His adoption fee is $400. Bandit is a very sweet dog who loves any kind of attention. His goofy ears are sure to catch anybody's attention. Bandit loves to be with people and go on adventures. He rides great in the car! Zorro is our longest resident at DAWS and has been here for four years. During that time, this 70 lb. six-year-old shepherd mix has been working very hard on training and we believe his time has come to find his furever home! Back in 2019, when Zorro first arrived to DAWS after being saved from a high kill shelter in Kentucky, he began developing some behavioral challenges, making it difficult to find him the right home. Through extensive training, Zorro has proved himself to be a pup that can develop solid friendships with humans, and even befriend select dogs. Zorro has been trained using treats and he eagerly sits, lies down and gives a paw on command. He’s done very well with car rides. He has enjoyed many hikes, walks, and play-time with his volunteer team. Time and time again, he has shown what a good boy he is, he just needs to find that special person! With a dog like Zorro, he will need a very specific adopter... Zorro Owner Requirements: • Experienced dog owner • Adult-only home with no kids or future children • Must be the only pet in the home • Has to have an understanding of positive reinforcement training • House with a fenced yard of at least 6 ft. • Willing to slowly introduce Zorro to people close to the family and educate them on Zorro’s do’s & don'ts • Come and meet Zorro multiple times If you think you can be the hero that Zorro needs, please complete our online application.
