More information on Low-Cost Clinic Services:

  • All surgeries are by appointment only. Please call or email for an appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted.
  • All owners must complete a Spay/Neuter Application Form and return to us (clinicadmin@daws.org) to receive services
  • All pets must have valid, up-to-date proof of Rabies and distemper
(FVRCP/DHPP) vaccines – if this is not provided prior to drop off, if your pet is unvaccinated, and/or the vaccines are expired, your pet will receive the necessary vaccines and you will be charged ($30 rabies, $30 distemper)
  • Final payment (cash, check, or credit card) is due at the time of service.
  • Pets 7yrs or older require a pre-surgical blood panel from their local vet.
  • If your pet has fleas at the time of surgery, they will receive a dose of Capstar
(a fast-acting flea treatment) and you will be charged an additional $25.
  • Your pet must be healthy at the time of surgery, and free from contagious disease. Puppies and kittens must weigh at least 3 pounds and be 3 months old for surgery. Our veterinarians will examine all patients the morning of surgery – pets that have signs of illness, disease, or obesity will be declined and may need to be rescheduled or referred to a full service hospital.
  • We DO NOT provide post-surgery rechecks or follow ups. If your pet has issues following surgery, please contact your primary veterinarian. To avoid post-operative complications, we provide specific instruction on how to care for your pet after surgery. You can preview these instructions below, and contact us if you have any questions prior to your appointment:
    • DOG Post-Operative Care Sheet (link to PDF)
    • CAT Post-Operative Care Sheet (link to PDF)

You can also find additional information (including videos in English and Spanish) on the ASPCA website here

  • All pets should wear a well-fitted Elizabethan collar (e-collar, cone) after surgery to prevent licking or chewing at the incision. These are available at DAWS for an additional cost, or you can obtain one from your local pet store or online. Please click here for additional information about how to fit the collar for your pet.
