Low-Cost Services

Offering these services to families in need, counterpart animal welfare organizations, and veterinary colleagues helps us live our Mission to promote responsible pet guardianship and to work toward ending animal overpopulation. These services are in addition to providing quality medical care for the animals in our shelter and in foster care prior to adoption.

Hours of Operation

Our clinic currently offers three full surgery days each week, though the specific days may vary. All surgeries are performed on weekdays, Monday through Friday. Once we receive your application, our clinic administrator will contact you with your scheduled spay or neuter date.

  • All medical services are by appointment only. Please call 203.744.3297 ext. 101 or email us at clinicadmin@daws.org. Walk-ins are not accepted.
  • All owners must complete a Spay/Neuter Admission Form prior to performance of medical services. (Proof of rabies and distemper vaccine must be provided with the application)
  • Final payment in the form of cash, or credit card is due at the time of service.
  • Unvaccinated animals, or those with out-of-date vaccination records will be vaccinated upon arrival at an additional cost.
  • Pets 7yrs or older will require pre-op blood panel from their local vet.
  • If your pet has fleas at the time of surgery, they will receive a dose of Capstar, a fast-acting flea treatment, and you will be charged an additional $20 at the time of pick up
  • Your pet must be healthy at the time of surgery, and free from contagious disease. Puppies and kittens must weigh at least 3 pounds and be 3 months old for surgery. Our veterinarians will examine all patients the morning of surgery – pets that have signs of illness, disease, or obesity will be declined and may need to be rescheduled or referred to a full service hospital.
