Team Spotlight, January 2024
Dr. Cary Brenner, DVM
Dr. Cary Brenner has been practicing veterinarian medicine since 1983 and has lived and worked in the Danbury area since 1988. He owned two local practices, including Fieldstone Veterinary Care, where he still works. He worked at the Animal Emergency Clinic in Danbury for ten years and at several other practices, including traveling to perform diagnostic ultrasounds.
Dr. Brenner began working with DAWS in 2002. He has cared for tens of thousands of animals for over twenty years of residence. In addition to spay and neuter surgeries, general examinations, and low-cost clinic procedures for pet owners and local rescues, he also supports the trap, neuter, and release program that aids in decreasing animal overpopulation. Over the years, Dr. Brenner has handled countless emergencies, maintaining a calm demeanor (with a little help from Jimmy Buffet playing).
Despite battling a life-threatening illness that is thankfully in remission, Dr. Brenner continued to support DAWS during a record-breaking year with 2,500 clinic services performed in 2020! Dr. Brenner could not be deterred from helping DAWS fulfill its vital mission, even with a compromised immune system during a pandemic.
Dr. Brenner has treated some extraordinary cases in his time with DAWS and will always go the extra mile to ensure the animals are provided with the best possible care.
“Dr. Brenner will always do what is best for any animal who walks in the door. His passion for animal welfare allows DAWS to aid in the community and help to find the homeless animals wonderful forever homes!” Katie Mothersele, Director of Operations, explains.
DAWS is proud to recognize Dr. Brenner for his commitment and dedication to the countless animals whose lives he touched.
