In the heart of Danbury, a remarkable transformation occurred in 2022 – the local animal shelter, DAWS, was undergoing renovations, and they needed fosters to make it all possible. That’s when I received a letter in the mail, a simple piece of paper that would set in motion a beautiful journey of compassion and love.

Without hesitation, I opened my home to my first pair of feline friends that weekend. Little did I know that it would mark the beginning of an incredible adventure. As soon as I welcomed them into my life, I felt an instant connection, a bond that was as strong as the paws that had wandered into my world. At that moment, I knew I was head over heels for these adorable creatures.

I can still vividly recall the first night they spent with me, and you see a photo of them cozily nestled in my bed below! It’s a snapshot perfectly capturing the warmth and love that has since filled my home.

I shared my newfound joy with my boyfriend, hoping we could give these cats a temporary home as fosters, but little did I know my feline companions had cast their enchanting spell on him as well. He, too, was smitten, and there was no way we could ever send them back.

Michelle and the entire team at DAWS have been nothing short of amazing. Their support and guidance have been invaluable on this journey, and I’ve come to feel like a cherished member of this close-knit community of fosters. Together, we’re making a difference in the lives of these beautiful cats, one furry friend at a time.

Every day, as I return home, a delightful surprise awaits me. Whether it’s a playful game of chase, a contented purr, or a pair of bright, curious eyes, there’s always someone there to make me smile. It’s a feeling that’s hard to put into words – the knowledge that, in my little corner of the world, I’m making a meaningful impact on these lovely beings who’ve found their way into my life.

Over the past 18 months, I’ve opened my doors and my heart to well over 25 cats in need, and I can honestly say that it’s been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. The joy of fostering these cats, the adventures, the cuddles, and the moments of pure connection have all become an integral part of my story.

So, if you ever find yourself contemplating a journey into the fostering world, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take that leap of faith. You might discover a newfound love and purpose and, like me, fall head over heels for the wonderful world of fostering.
